HR Business Partner

The HR Business Partner is responsible for aligning business objectives with management and employees across ASCO departments. This positions acts in a consulting capacity to managers on all HR related issues and uses sound judgement to balance the business needs with that of the managers. The incumbent will be directly involved with the full employee lifecycle - talent acquisition, onboarding, development, performance management, compensation, benefits, policy interpretation, employee relations, HR analytics, project management and communication.
Participates in the interviewing/hiring of qualified candidates.
Collaborates with Talent Acquisition Specialist to develop hiring terms for new hires, promotions and transfers.
Participates in the on-boarding of new hires and ensures managers provide a consistent on-boarding experience across departments.
Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Manages and resolves various employee relations issues.
Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Partners with the legal department as needed.
Prepares HRIS reports and analyzes trends in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions, programs and policies.
Experience researching employee history in HR system in order to gather sufficient data to resolve employees concerns/questions.
Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.G., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
Identifies development/training needs for business units and individuals.
Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
Applies diverse HR knowledge and offers effective solutions for talent acquisition, employee engagement and retention, employee benefits, leave management, training and development, safety and workers compensation.
Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
Understands Federal laws and can provide guidance to managers and employees on various leave policies (STD, FMLA, Military Leave)
Knowledge of safety and workers compensation regulations in order to counsel managers or employees as needed.
Previous experience in an HR Generalist or Manager position required
Bachelor s degree required. Concentration in Human Resources, Psychology or related field preferred. SPHR or PHR certification preferred.
Minimum of 6+ years' experience resolving complex employee relations issues
Proven ability to multi-task, be actively involved, and handle issues through closure.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of safety management and handling workers compensation a plus.
Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including talent acquisition, compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws.
Solution oriented with the ability to plan, implement and drive the HR projects.
Highly proficient in MS Microsoft applications - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Experience using HRIS systems and preparing reports
