The Process Control Engineer is a key member of the engineering team and is active in designing, developing, installing, and commissioning control systems for process plants.


  • All aspects of control system design, configuration, integration, and commissioning, including understanding the project scope; determining the appropriate system architecture; purchasing; reviewing vendor submittal documents for approval; reviewing control panel wiring diagrams; system configuration and testing; and commissioning the complete control system.

  • Communicating with clients to refine project scope and requirements.

  • Defining software/hardware architecture requirements.

  • Interaction with the business development and project teams and providing supporting technical solutions.

  • Developing detailed functional design specifications.

  • Programming and configuring DCS, OPC, PLC, and SCADA components.

  • Perform factory acceptance testing of hardware and software.

  • Providing system commissioning services and troubleshooting existing control systems, which includes travel to domestic and international locations.


  • BS Chemical Engineering from an accredited university required.


  • 3 to 5 years in air separation, petrochemical, chemical, or pharmaceutical industry with practical field experience.

  • Substantial working experience with Emerson DeltaV.

  • Experience with Siemens PCS7, Rockwell Automation, Yokogawa, ABB, or Honeywell a plus.

  • Skilled in DCS, PLC, and HMI programming.

  • Experience with interfacing various control systems to OPC Server applications and communication to other control systems via OPC. Knowledge of general purpose OPC Server applications from

  • Matrikon or OSI PI is desirable.

  • Experience integrating control systems with MES, Data Historians, ERP, and other data systems.

  • Experience with FDA Validation.

  • Has been responsible for delivering plant control systems on time.

  • Working knowledge of electrical design and panel design.

  • Has specified and ordered control system components.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize work and schedule activity to meet overall project requirements with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills and has experience in producing detailed functional design documentation.
