Responsible for the preparation, coordination, analysis and management of all investment accounting information for both internal and external use.


  • Management of the investment accounting processes, including on a day-to-day basis acting as a liaison between the Company and investment accounting outsourced services provider

  • Preparation (or review in the case of London business) of required and adhoc reporting for investments including the quarterly investment commentaries and rating and maturity reports

  • Implementation and maintenance of new investment portfolios and strategies, including ensuring that the correct accounting treatment is being applied and the appropriate documentation is maintained

  • Reviewing of investment return and as required providing accurate explanations of variances to externally calculated returns

  • Management of changes to portfolios including changes in accounting designation (e.G. Available-for-sale to held-to-maturity)

  • Liaise with Investment Division to gain a better understanding of new products, portfolios and strategies, and to become aware of anything that impacts Accounting

  • Preparation of journal entries and supporting reconciliations

  • Preparation of other than temporary impairment analysis for both the US and UK

  • Preparation of investment related tables/numbers and disclosures in support of the Annual Financial Statements and Bermuda Statutory Return

  • Preparation and coordination of all investment support for external auditors and rating agencies

  • Develop or identify recommendations to improve and enhance processes and procedures

  • Other special projects and assignments, as required


  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting

  • Knowledge of investments and investment accounting

  • Experience in financial analysis and financial reporting

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills

  • Good mathematical and oral and written communications skills

  • General knowledge of U.S. GAAP and insurance accounting principles

  • Insurance company experience preferred

  • 5 years experience in financial services industry or investment accounting function preferred

  • Professional accounting designations a plus

  • Ability to work on multiple projects independently
