SUMMARY

The candidate will serve as Senior Design Engineer with expertise in water and sanitary sewer infrastructure design (primarily working on water main and large meter vault replacement projects) to support our ongoing design services contracts as well as to develop and pursue new market opportunities.



RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform Design Management tasks for design services contract(s) including client coordination, development of task order proposals, scheduling, management of design tasks, staff allocation, budget management and subcontractor coordination.



  • Water System and Meter Vault Design performing all aspects of design, specifications development, material take-off and cost estimate development, bidding assistance, permit identification and acquisition, procurement, and design services during construction for multiple, simultaneous water distribution and large meter vault replacement design projects.



  • Performing QA/QC for projects at various submittal stages during design.



  • Providing post-design engineering services during construction.



  • Acquiring and exercising in-depth understanding of client, State, County, and local municipal design standards and guidelines.



  • Attending and leading progress meetings related to design services tasks.



  • Evaluating permitting and regulatory requirements and preparing status reports related to ongoing projects





QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Bachelor s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering. Master of Science preferred.



  • Minimum of 8 years experience in water pipeline design, with preference given to municipal type design rather than private site development.



  • Experience with advancement from design work to project management for water-related projects preferred.



  • Maryland PE or out-of-state PE with ability to obtain reciprocity in MD.



  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.



  • Experience in leading and coordinating work activities of staff and sub-consultants as part of a multi-disciplinary team.



  • Experience in developing and assembling bid-ready design packages (to include plans, procurement documents, cost estimates, and permits).



  • Ability to lead and conduct meetings virtually as well as at client sites.



  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.



  • Experience with WSSC Pipeline Design Division (PDD) design projects is a plus.
