Our client seeks an experienced civil or environmental engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit to expand our expertise offerings and grow our client base. The Engineer in this position will perform various analysis and design tasks related to environmental remediation and site closure; industrial sites management; environmental data evaluation; strategic site evaluations; cost evaluations; hydrology and hydraulic analysis; and other aspects of Civil/Environmental Engineering. Using various scientific methodologies and disciplines, the Engineer in this position will help collect, synthesize and study source data used to assess client solutions and compile high quality technical reports, design documents and presentations. The Engineer will also manage engineering projects and will work to provide financial value to the organization.
Project management including scope of work preparation, planning, coordinating and maintaining schedules, budgets, and staffing plans; e Lead and support engineering design for environmental remediation components- e.G., soil and groundwater remediation, treatment system design, site and plant closure, and site reuse;
Development of detailed designs with familiarity with AutoCAD to direct AutoCAD draftsman;
Complete nature and extent of contamination evaluations, manage risk assessment work with risk assessment experts and evaluate remediation alternatives;
Preparation of detailed cost estimates and analysis for clients;
Prepare accurate and professional technical reports and presentations;
Provide engineering support for litigation projects;
Compile and assess environmental data using spreadsheets, databases, and GIS;
Mentor junior staff;
Travel domestically and internationally (25% to 40%);
Document research and review related to environmental impacts; and
Manage team-based project work resulting in client satisfaction and the on-time completion of quality technical work product.
Business Development & Customer Relationship Management- 30%
Engage in business development to expand the client base,
Establish contacts with past clients to develop new business opportunities
Work with existing groups to identify mutual client relationships for leveraging opportunities.
Market services to existing and potential clients, as well as internally.
Identify potential new clients in target markets and complete appropriate research on the prospective client's business.
Arrange business meetings and meet with prospective clients.
A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering is required, an MS is preferred.
10-25 years of engineering experience with an emphasis on consulting.
Familiar and comfortable using technology; AutoCAD, HEC, SWMM, Excel, Access and ArcGlS.
Currently registered as a Professional Engineer.
Able to relate comfortably with people across levels, departments and geographies, actively engaging input, listening with empathy and concern, and driving collaborative outcomes.
In-depth understanding of underlying business dynamics and organizational behaviors. Maintains an eye toward future opportunities and business trends.
